Test First, Then Recharge
Plenty of companies will happily sell you a gas top-up every year. We will not, because a healthy system never needs one. When cooling weakens, our technician measures the operating pressures, checks the coil temperature split and inspects flare joints and piping for the tell-tale oil stains that mark a leak.
Only once the system is tight do we recharge — weighed in against the nameplate charge, not guessed by feel. That is how a regas should be done, and it is why our regas customers do not come back for the same problem next year.
What Happens During a ChillPoint Regas
- Pressure and temperature diagnosis — manifold readings plus supply-air measurement confirm whether gas is genuinely low or the problem lies elsewhere (dirty coils mimic low gas surprisingly often).
- Leak detection — electronic sniffer and soap testing at flare nuts, valves and visible piping. Slow leaks get a nitrogen pressure hold test.
- Repair before refill — re-flaring, valve core replacement or joint brazing as needed, quoted flat before we proceed.
- Weighed recharge — R32 or R410A charged to the manufacturer’s specification, never “until it feels cold”.
- Verification — final pressures and a supply-air temperature reading recorded on your service report.
Typical pricing: top-up from RM120 for R32 and RM150 for R410A per unit, including diagnosis. Leak repairs quoted flat on site before any work starts.
Signs Your Unit May Be Low on Gas
- Air blows but is barely cooler than the room
- Ice forming on the indoor coil or the copper pipes outside
- Compressor runs continuously without reaching the set temperature
- Hissing near the outdoor unit or oily residue on pipe joints
